  • Are you tired of spending a fortune on cigarettes?
  • Are you fed up at being tied down by nicotine cravings?
  • Have you had enough of smelling like cigarette smoke?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Congratulations!  By reading this you are on your way to kicking the habit.  You can become smoke-free and healthier with the help of acupuncture.

Every year, more than 3 million Americans try to quit smoking, but only half of them succeed.  With the help of acupuncture you have a greater chance of success!

Most experts agree that quitting smoking is the single most important thing you can do for your health.  More than 25 diseases are associated with tobacco use.  Including; cancer of the lungs, bladder, mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus, pancreas, kidney, uterus, and cervix.

Smoking also raises the chances of developing emphysema and increases the risk of having a stroke by 30%!

Needless to say, you have plenty of reasons to quit.  But that doesn’t really make it any easier.  The good news is that acupuncture has helped millions of people kick the smoking habit.  And it can now help you too!

Are You a good candidate for Acupuncture?

It is true that without your individual desire to quit, no matter what therapy you use to help you quit, you will have a hard time.  A lot of people “want to want to quit”.  They don’t REALLY want to quit, but they “know” it’s a bad habit, so they wish they wanted to stop.  But in reality, they enjoy smoking, so they won’t have the wherewithal to really give it up.  If they do succeed in quitting, they will likely return to it within a few months.

After all, why would you stop doing something that you enjoy?  My personal opinion, which I know may differ from many experts, is:  If you enjoy it, then don’t even bother trying to quit, just enjoy it!  Because my theory is that the guilt associated with smoking can be more harmful to your health than the nicotine and chemicals in the cigarettes.

So, if you are really ready to quit.  You honestly don’t like the habit, and are willing to do whatever it takes to “butt out”, then you are already half way there.  And acupuncture can help you reach the rest of the way.

How Acupuncture Can Help You:

Some of the biggest difficulties associated to becoming smoke-free are the stress, anxiety and depression associated with quitting.  Fortunately, acupuncture is very successful at calming and relaxing your mind, nervous system, reducing anxiety, and lifting depression.

The use of “auricular therapy”, which is the use of stimulating points in you ears, is what makes acupuncture so effective.  By using these ear points, wrist points and additional “acu-points”, we can help:

  • Reduce Cravings
  • Suppress Your Appetite
  • Stimulate Repair of Your Lungs
  • Heal Your Organ Systems
  • Detoxify Your Body
  • Clear Your Mind
  • Relax Your Nervous System
  • Reduce Stress

More Than Just Kicking The Habit…

What will some of the side effects of using acupuncture to stop smoking?

Aside from taking care of some of the normal patterns that can cause you to resume the habit, acupuncture can help your health.  Other benefits include:

  • Increased Energy
  • Less Pain
  • More Vitality
  • Better Sleep
  • Reduced Menopausal Symptoms
  • Less Allergies
  • Clearer Complexion & Skin
  • Increased Metabolism
  • Happier Mood
  • An Increased Feeling of Empowerment

A Few Tips to Help You Through Your Acupuncture Care Process:

  1. Drink plenty of clean, filtered water.  At least 6 glasses per day.
  2. Avoid eating carbs.  And make sure to eat enough at breakfast time
  3. Refrain from sugar.  This can lead to more cravings and weight-gain
  4. When a craving arises, distract yourself.  After a few minutes, the craving will pass.  Do whatever you need to do.  If you’re at home, I recommend push-ups.  If you are at work, tackle something you were postponing or procrastinating.
  5. Dry brush your skin.  This will help the cleansing process and increase blood circulation.
  6. Take daily baths with Epsom salts.  Or at least take a shower daily.
  7. Avoid spending time with smokers.
  8. Take a walk outside and take deep breaths.  Especially if you took smoke breaks before.  You can replace that habit with a “breathing break”.  Take a brisk walk around the block and take deep breaths.  Upon your exhalation, gently place your teeth together and exhale with the sound of “sssssssss”.  This sound stimulates the lungs.
